WELCOME TO JPAs IN MARIN
A Joint Powers Authority (JPA) is a unit of local government, authorized under the State Government Code, created to jointly administer a shared power, under the terms of a joint exercise of powers agreement adopted by the member agencies.

In Marin County JPAs form the basis of many county-wide, cooperative ventures between cities, towns, special districts, and the county to efficiently administer regional shared programs

All JPAs are administered by independent Boards of Directors.

The Joint Powers Authority Oversight Committee was created to periodically review the activities of the various JPAs and to consider major policy issues involving new regional efforts.
